Chocolate Pie

This is an easy to make chocolate pie recipe from Dariya Ustinova, founder of Easy Cooking School and Blog. Dasha is a master of desserts, that are accessible to anyone, delicious and appealing. The kind that you can easily cook at home, with no weighing scales or special skills necessary. This pie with cottage cheese and banana or pears requires only 10 minutes for preparation and 30 minutes to bake. You can also experiment with different types of flour, add your favorite spices or sour berries to the dough or invent original decorating ideas for this pie. This appetizing, tender and not too sweet pie will prove to be an amazing dessert for a family gathering or a filling breakfast to start a day of work.

For the dough:
100-150 gr flour (depending on the baking dish size)
50-75 gr butter (half of the amount of flour)
1 egg

For the stuffing:
150-200 cottage cheese (depending on the baking dish size)
1 bar of dark chocolate
1 egg
2 tbsp. flour
bananas or pears


You can mix together different types of flour (wholegrain wheat, oatmeal, almond, rice, etc.) and use substitutes for butter (ghee coconut oil, corn oil, etc.). To make the pie even more tasty, add some lemon or lime zest to the dough and fresh thyme. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom will also work great. 

When the dough is ready, shape it into a ball and place in a fridge for a while (you could even make it beforehand, the night before). Roll out the dough, put it into your baking dish, pressing tight against the walls of the dish, and cut off the excessive dough. Dock a few holes with a fork to avoid puffing up and bake for 5-7 minutes at 180 degrees. While the crust is baking, you can tackle the stuffing.

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or a microwave, add spices, a pinch of salt and maybe a teaspoon of butter if you like. Combine cottage cheese with an egg till it becomes homogeneous (you can use a blender to make cottage cheese more tender and homogeneous). Add chocolate, 2 tablespoons of any type of flour and mix well together with a mixer.

It’s a great idea to add a handful of sour berries like currant, bilberry or cranberry.

Take the baking dish with the crust out from the oven and evenly put slices of banana or pears, then put the cottage-cheese-chocolate sauce on top of those. Make even. 

Sprinkle some seeds or chopped nuts over the top to make the pie look cute! Bake at medium temperature until ready, around 30 minutes. Cool the pie dow before slicing. Serve with a spoonful of sour cream or ice cream.
